Chapter Three: Heart and Eyes(1)
With G327’s words, everyone’s gaze turned simultaneously toward the entrance of the training ground.
Sunny Boy looked past G327’s shoulder and saw a figure as tall and straight as a javelin. It was a young female knight, with delicate yet fierce features. Her azure eyes were like the icy northern seas, cold, vast, and full of authority. The only touch of warmth on her otherwise frosty face was a beauty mark at the corner of her mouth.
Gula!
The name, revered by all in Time Town, flashed through Sunny Boy’s mind.
Everyone's eyes involuntarily shifted to the giant cavalry lance planted firmly behind Gula.
“Embrace of the Rose…” Balami muttered as if spellbound, uttering the name of the infamous weapon.
This was Gula’s beloved lance, one of the holy artifacts of the Church of Time. The lance was entirely forged from mystical mithril from a mysterious starfield. The master craftsmen of the Church ingeniously shaped it into a gigantic drill. Enhanced by the Church’s signature crystal engine, a single strike from this lance could shatter the toughest Rock Truck into pieces.
Despite its length and weight, the excellent balance of the Embrace of the Rose made it surprisingly easy to wield. Among the knights of Time Town, there was a secret technique known as the “Stolen Spear.” It was said that those who mastered this skill could strike the same butterfly twice in a single move with the enormous lance.
The unparalleled length of the lance always ensured its wielder struck first. It was undoubtedly an extreme weapon, designed to hit the enemy before they could react, like a girl in love rushing into her lover’s arms: before you even see the fiery figure, your heart is already struck.
Even the most renowned swordsman, Gulaba, never dared to face Gula’s deadly “Stolen Spear” head-on. Only one person had ever escaped death from Gula, but the name of that mysterious survivor was never mentioned.
Sunny Boy’s pupils contracted slightly. He didn’t know what Gula’s sudden appearance meant for him.
“Commander, this boy cheated during the test. He used a double attack, a skill only trainee knights can learn…” G327 explained frantically, completely losing the smugness he had earlier.
Gula ignored G327’s words and merely glanced at her. G327 fell silent instantly, like a chicken whose neck had been gripped.
“What weapon do you want to use? A dagger can hardly deal over 80 damage in one hit. Unless you’re pretending to be that wretched drunk.” Gula looked at Sunny Boy, her gaze intense and imposing.
Sunny Boy exhaled softly and saluted Gula with one hand on his chest. “Commander, if you permit, I’d like to try the Roadblock.”
“He’s mad. How could he think he can wield such a Huge Hammer?” The children were all stunned by Sunny Boy’s words.
Gula’s eyes flickered, as if catching onto something. The Roadblock was a weapon she knew all too well. This weapon is made entirely of a cement roadblock, and the twisted steel pipes attest to the fact that its wielder must not be human. It lacks combo attacks, technique, and has slow swings, making it difficult to aim at targets. However, these are trivialities that are of no importance. This is the ultimate weapon that can even demolish a speeding steam train with a single blow! There is no weapon with greater power than this, except perhaps for the ambition of humanity...
Everyone knew that the best user of this weapon in all of Time Town was Laba, the strongest cyborg. Only a cyborg’s mechanical body could swing such a heavy weapon and hit the target.
“You can’t even control an iron sword, and you want to lift the Roadblock? Commander Gula, this kid is clearly mocking you. I’ll lock him in the water dungeon right away!” G327 shouted, her cheeks flushed with anger.
Before she finished her sentence, Sunny Boy felt a strong wind pass by his ear. G327 flew out like a cannonball, knocking over a weapon rack before coming to a stop.
“Show me,” Gula said to Sunny Boy expressionlessly. Even her clothing didn’t move. If not for the lance being buried deeper into the ground than before, no one would have noticed she had moved.
Sweat beaded on Sunny Boy’s nose. Others might not have seen it clearly, but he had seen how Gula single-handedly swatted G327 away with her lance.
There was no turning back now. Sunny Boy moved his legs slowly, each step deliberate as he adjusted his breathing. All the children stared wide-eyed at the thin boy approaching the weapon rack by the wall.
The Roadblock was excessively large, making the boy standing beside it seem even smaller. The nameless boy rubbed his hands together, then tightly grasped the thick steel pipe used as the hammer’s handle.
A creak sounded as the boy actually managed to drag the Huge Hammer, struggling to move it towards the testing point. Unlike others who would grit their teeth with effort, the boy mumbled to himself in an inaudible voice while biting his lip.
ربنا آتنا في الدنيا حسنة وفي الآخرة حسنة وقنا عذاب النار. "
«اغفر لآبائي ولا تخزني يوم القيامة».
“......”
A strange thing happened. As the boy dragged the hammer forward step by step, his movements became increasingly fluid and light. If not for the deep groove the Roadblock carved into the hard ground of the training field, one might have thought he was dragging a prop made of cork.
Gula watched the boy’s increasingly steady back, feeling a sense of déjà vu.
Too similar. This boy’s back was too similar to that person’s.
Sunny Boy stopped about three body lengths away from the stone sphere. Meanwhile, G327 had finally climbed back up. Her chest armor bore a large spiral dent, the exact shape of Gula’s lance.
G327 glared venomously at the boy in front of the stone sphere, her eyes burning with a hatred that seemed like it could incinerate the frail yet handsome boy.
The boy closed his eyes, took a deep breath, and held it. All eyes focused on the massive hammer in his hands. Suddenly, he opened his eyes wide, his body arching like a taut bow. With all his might, he leveraged his waist and heaved the giant hammer. With a loud bang, the boy and the hammer shot forward like an arrow! At this moment, the boy and the Roadblock had become one—the Roadblock was the indomitable arrowhead, and the boy was the agile shaft and feathers behind it.
The massive cement roadblock struck the test stone sphere with a violent impact! The tremendous force caused everyone around to stumble backward. Shards of cement flew like shrapnel in all directions. Amidst the dazzling sparks, the stone sphere could not maintain its integrity and soared into the air with a loud bang.
910! Not 91, but a full 910!
